Tonya Nicosia, a single mother of four children, has taken more than her share of life’s trials over the past few years. Through a divorce, the loss of many jobs, a car accident, and trying to provide for her family, Tonya didn’t see higher education as a possibility in her life.
There were many people who believed in Tonya and supported her throughout these trials. One of these people was Tonya’s religious leader, who suggested that she consider courses at LDS Business College.
“I became interested in the accounting program after speaking with one of the teachers,” says Tonya. “I completed the program over the course of three semesters, combined with business management courses, and I plan to continue in a University Business Management Program.”
While attending school, Tonya received the Single Mother Scholarship to help her financially with tuition and books.
“The scholarship blessed my life in many ways,” she says. “It gave me the chance to interact with some amazing faculty/mentors and make some wonderful friends. It also gave my children the opportunity to see how valuable education is.”
